The need for more health workers in key positions was one of the main topics at yesterday’s Northern Health Strategy meeting in Prince Albert.
NHS coordinator Nap Gardiner says human resources is a key ingredient for health success in the north.
Gardiner says unless you have it, you wind up losing primary health centres and nurses.
He says there at least 170 health-related positions that need to be filled across the north.
Gardiner says northern health agencies are applying for $11.5 million in total in order to train 400 people, who Gardiner says could essentially be guaranteed jobs.
He also notes funding for the NHS has begun to diminish.
