Some provincial cabinet ministers were in Prince Albert this morning to answer questions at the Northern Justice Symposium.
The Minister for Corrections and Public Safety, Yogi Huyghebaert, talked at length about his ministry’s desire to stamp out drug activity wherever possible.
Huyghebaert says the new northern drug unit that was launched last year has been a success, noting its resulted in numerous arrests.
That assessment was backed up by Prince Albert Police Chief Dale McFee.
He says the new unit is helping to disrupt the flow of drugs between the city and the north, adding new intelligence comes in every day.
McFee adds an additional officer will be assigned to the unit in the upcoming days.
