New Northern Sewage Lagoons Nearing Completion

The new sewage lagoon for the Fond du Lac First Nation is expected to be complete in about three weeks.

It was funded by the federal government, which contributed $9 million to this project and a similar lagoon for Black Lake.

Senior project engineer Lawrence Lukey says there have been many positive economic spin-offs, with local suppliers utilized throughout the construction.

Lukey also says the old lagoon in Fond du Lac was undersized, and needed upgrades.

The lagoon project for Black Lake is expected to be complete in November.
