Ile-a-la-Crosse Mapping Almost Complete

A decade-long effort to map the area around Ile-a-la-Crosse is nearing the final stages.

For the past 10 years, researchers with the University of Saskatchewan have teamed up with community members to chart traditional sites.

Vince Ahenakew is a local community member who has been helping out with the effort.

He says they’ve managed to pin-point a number of locations not found on your typical map.

Ahenakew has a rough map already.

However, they are finalizing things with the elders and still have to validate a few of the sites.
