A man with HIV hopes his story will make people more empathetic towards those with the disease.

Brian Campbell shared his story at this week’s All Nations Hope AIDS Network conference in Saskatoon.

Campbell used intravenous drugs for 38 years, but was only diagnosed with HIV a year ago.

He says at first, it hit him really hard and he didn’t want to go on.

Campbell says through people at All Nations Hope, he’s found the will to live and try to be healthy.

He has been clean for three months and says he is slowly getting stronger.

Campbell says it is everyone’s responsibility to fight the epidemic of AIDS that plagues the Aboriginal community.
