The latest Canadian Ranger Patrol Group graduated in La Ronge on the weekend and is ready to assist the Canadian Armed Forces.

Over 20 people signed up and took part in some or all of the basic training sessions.

63-year-old Lynn Riese of La Ronge signed up for the Rangers and says the military training he received provides practical knowledge.

Riese says he was particularly interested in learning about search and rescue and winter survival techniques.

Ellen Klassen, also of La Ronge, says the training “was a lot of fun” — and she encourages more women to become involved.

The La Ronge Canadian Ranger Group will be subject to more training over the next few months.
