A lawyer says the RCMP were very frank when they disclosed the results of a forgotten 911 call resulting in the death of a young woman on a northern Saskatchewan logging road this past April.
Peter Abrametz, Sr. is a Prince Albert lawyer and is representing the families of Melissa Rabbitskin and the late Kerri Canepotatoe.
Canepotatoe died of exposure trying to get help, while Rabbitskin and two children were not rescued from their stranded car for a week.
The RCMP met with the families on Wednesday.
Abrametz says the briefing was a necessary part of the healing journey.
He believes he will receive instructions to file a lawsuit, and feels it will eventually lead to closure on this issue.
When asked about discipline for the civilian operator who dropped the call for help, Abrametz says the RCMP referred to the operator as “very remorseful”.
