Decision Reserved In Appeal Of Walmart Baby Ruling

Three Saskatchewan Court of Appeal justices are considering their decision in a case where a woman left her baby in the toilet of a Walmart.

The Crown is looking to overturn the verdict of April Halkett, who was found not guilty by a Prince Albert judge last year.

This morning, Crown prosecutors argued that Halkett willfully omitted to take charge of the child and should be found guilty of child abandonment.

Halkett — who was not in court today — testified last year that she thought the baby was dead.

The judges will submit a written decision.
