One person is dead and two young children are among the injured after a three-car collision near Prince Albert last night.

The collision took place on Highway 55 about 8 km from the Diefenbaker Bridge at around 6:30 p.m.

Police say a car crossed into the wrong lane and collided with a sport utility vehicle.

The car narrowly missed a collision with a truck near the Prince Albert airport, then crashed head-on into the SUV.

The police say the person who was killed — a 19-year-old woman — was driving the car.

A 13-month-old boy and a six-year-old girl who were also in the car were taken to Saskatoon hospital in critical condition, but they are now listed in serious but stable condition.

A 22-year-old female passenger of the car was released last night, while the 57-year-old female driver remains in the intensive care unit of the Victoria Hospital.

Sources say the four individuals in the car are from Deschambault Lake.

Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Investigators continue to study debris from the scene and are examining information from the vehicles, as well.
