Canepotatoe’s Uncle Responds To RCMP Apology

An uncle of the late Kerri Canepotatoe says an RCMP apology does not make up for the loss of his niece.
Canepotatoe died after walking to find help for her stranded relatives on a northern logging road in April.
Melissa Rabbitskin and two children ended up spending seven days stranded in their car before being rescued.
Paul Rabbitskin says the women and children needed help that didn’t arrive.
He also doesn’t like the “very rude” tone of the 911 operator in the tapes of the calls that have been released to the public.
Rabbitskin — a band councillor on the Big River First Nation — suggests a tribal police force be put in place because they know the area.
The RCMP have officially released the findings of an investigation and say 911 calls from Melissa Rabbitskin were forgotten by a civilian dispatcher.
