The Battlefords Tribal Council is building a one-stop entertainment and shopping complex in North Battleford.

The plans include a possible new or expanded hotel and possibly a new casino.

A combination shopping mall and walkway to the city’s new multipurpose recreational facility are also planned.

A First Nations theme park is also on the drawing board.

Those projects are expected to cost $40 to 50 million over the next five to seven years, according to BTC consultant Randy Wallace.

Wallace says plans for the area are so exciting that private business is looking at projects there, too.

He says that’ll really boost the amount of money spent in the area.

On Thursday, BTC also presented the first of three $250,000 cheques to the city of North Battleford.

The money is for the naming rights to recreational facility’s Field House.
