The federal government has announced $1 million over two years to develop and implement pilot projects that promote Aboriginal women’s entrepreneurship.

The announcement follows a roundtable on gender and Aboriginal economic development.

The money will focus on providing female Aboriginal entrepreneurs with financial literacy training, as well as access to business development tools and capital to help them establish a business.

Two pilot projects are currently being developed in collaboration with the Native Women’s Association of Canada, the Assembly of First Nations Women’s Council and the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples.
