A La Loche resident says people in the province’s north who can’t read English should get someone else to check their prescriptions.
Dorothy Lemaigre recently caught a mixup in her medication, where she mistakenly received someone else’s prescription.
Lemaigre says the local pharmacist apologized for the mishap and she’s happy the problem was averted.
But she worries there could be some elders out there who might not be able to catch the mistake.
Lemaigre says it troubles her that problems like this happen despite the latest advances in technology.
The pharmacist involved says the fact so many people in the community have similar last names can cause confusion at times.
However, he says he welcomes the extra vigilance, adding the last time this sort of thing happened was four years ago.
