Residential school survivors gathered in Regina yesterday to listen to representatives of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Willie Littlechild is on the commission and says a national event is taking shape.

He wants to engage the Canadian public in the residential school experience — and not just have the issue discussed only among survivors.

Justice Murray Sinclair chairs the TRC, and says the legacy of residential schools needs to be dealt with.

Sinclair says its fundamental to hear the children and grandchildren of survivors.

The national truth and reconciliation event is set to run from June 15th to June 19th in Winnipeg.
