Saskatchewan’s treaty commissioner says he would like to take his office on the road.
Bill McKnight told the chiefs in attendance at the FSIN’s special legislative assembly in Saskatoon this morning that he wants to visit First Nations in the province to share his ideas for the future.
McKnight says he wants First Nations to be given the opportunity to observe treaty table meetings in order to help determine what needs to happen next related to treaty discussions.
The chiefs passed a resolution calling on the federation to extend the mandate of the Office of the Treaty Commissioner to 2016.
The current mandate is due to expire in 2011.
