Treaty 4 Chiefs Establish Research Council

Chiefs within the Treaty 4 region have created a research council designed to protect their traditional land.

The chiefs feel government and industry are not consulting them enough over various developments and activities happening in their territory.

Larry Cachene of the Yellow Quill First Nation says too many projects are happening for the band to properly assess their impact.

Other chiefs within the tribal council say governments have also failed to recognize the spiritual connection first nations have to the land.
