Seminoles Confirm Interest In Domed Stadium Idea

It appears plans to have a Florida-based tribe bankrolling the construction of a new stadium in Regina may not be dead after all.
Reports surfaced last week that a group of 10 First Nations in the province had secured a deal with the Seminole Tribe of Florida to construct a $1.2 billion dollar for the Saskatchewan Roughriders to play in.
The idea was showered with cold water on Friday, though, when a spokesman for the band said no such deal was in place.
However, later on Friday, the president of the Seminole Tribe’s business development arm told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that a memorandum of understanding is actually in place.
Richard Bowers said there was some confusion about the idea, but he said Regina has a strong potential market to do business in.
Meantime, the spokesman who refuted the report on Friday continues to stick to his guns.
Gary Bitner says, as far as he knows, there is no actual commitment in place.
He also says it would take the tribal council to commit the tribe to anything.
