Cameco is calling on SaskPower to upgrade the transmission line that serves one of its northern Saskatchewan mines.

Cameco spokesman Rob Gereghty says frequent power outages on the line that services the Key Lake uranium mine have meant a loss of operations for the company.

Gereghty says the line needs to be upgraded immediately.

According to Gereghty, in a typical year, lightning storms cause more than 30 power outages at Key Lake.

He says that over the last two years, Cameco has lost $55-million in production due to those outages.
