Runoff Not Expected To Be An Issue In The North

Thanks to warmer than normal temperatures recently, spring runoff in the province’s north will likely be lower than normal this year.

Unless the north receives above-normal precipitation over the spring months, it is expected that the runoff will continue to be slightly below normal — leaving lakes and rivers at a lower level than usual.

Doug Johnson with the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says that even problem areas such as the Cumberland House region should be fine.

The only possible problem area in the province is the southwest, where levels are expected to be well above normal.
