Rivard Returns As MN-S Area Director

Al Rivard has once again been given the reins as area director for the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan in Northern Region 1.

Rivard has held the position before, spending 12 years representing the Metis in northeast Saskatchewan, including La Ronge.

The position came open when former director Pat Knudsen stepped down partway through her term.

Rivard says that his first order of business is to keep working towards getting funding for an office in the north.

“It’s not a matter of finding a place, it’s a matter of finding the money. So we have proposals out to both levels of government to assist us in that,” he says.

Rivard was acclaimed to the position after no one else came forward by this weekend’s deadline.
