Indian residential school survivors gathered in Regina today to hear about the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission–and share their stories.

The FSIN is hosting the two-day event.

FSIN Vice-Chief Lyle Whitefish says they are honoured to have Justice Murray Sinclair and Willie Littlechild of the Commisssion in attendance.

“We are very honoured to have the Truth and Reconciliation Commission here so they can hear first-hand of the experiences of the survivors, because that’s what we need to be asking our survivors is to talk about the experiences of those residential schools.

Many good things happened and came out of those schools but there were also some atrocities that has occurred in those schools.”

Whitefish says more than 200 people have registered.

Another conference will be held in Prince Albert at the end of the month.
