Prices for muskrat fur are on the rise.
North American Fur Auctions says muskrat pelts sold at historically high prices at a sale this weekend, more than doubling last year’s totals.
According to the company, the top lot of pelts was sold to a company in Beijing.
The average price paid was $9.56 US — with a top price of $40.00 US.
Meantime, otter pelts sold 75 per cent over last year’s levels.
Wild mink pelts are also said to be good sellers.
This was NAFA’s first wild fur sale of the season.
The company made the decision to cancel its previously-scheduled January sale due to limited quantities of pelts.
