Provincial Government Is Listening: FNUC Students

A student representative at the First Nations University of Canada says he finally slept well last night, after a week where he’s struggled to concentrate on his studies.
Cadmus Delorme, vice-president of FNUC’s students’ association, met with the province’s minister of Advanced Education, Rob Norris, last night to talk about the latest struggles of the university.
He and five other students made an impassioned presentation about how important the school is to them.
Delorme says Norris assured the student reps that the school will remain the same at the student level but may change at the governance level, which is something Delorme welcomes.
“I’m worried about myself. I’m worried about my education. I told Rob (Norris) last night, ‘One day I’d like to be sitting in this legislative in your shoes,’ and if the government has to take over for a while, and as long as I can get in those shoes one day, I’m all with it,” he says.
Delorme and other students plan to meet today with FNUC’s board chair, president and vice-president.
He says the meeting will be professional and civil, because the students want to hear what the officials have to say.
