A meeting is taking place tonight between officials at the University of Regina and the province’s Advanced Education minister.
At issue are some recent allegations of financial mismanagement at the First Nations University of Canada.
The school’s former financial officer, Murray Westerlund, is suing the school for firing him after he reported several cases of alleged misspending by management.
The University of Regina says it has a contingency plan in place should students at the First Nations University of Canada require any assistance.
The U of R has academic oversight over the FNUC, which is one of its federated colleges.
Barb Pollack, the U of R’s vice-president of external relations, says they will continue to ensure FNUC students are looked after.
FNUC president Charles Pratt was expected to meet with teachers and students today to address the situation, but university officials now say that meeting will take place on Friday.
