A northern Saskatchewan woman is preparing to cook the biggest dinner of her life today.
Maureen Olson, a member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, is serving up food for Prime Minister Stephen Harper this afternoon at the Olympic Winter Games Aboriginal Pavilion in Vancouver.
The meal is part of the lead-up to the start of the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games.
Olson says she wound up in Vancouver through the help of her uncle, who owns a catering business in Ottawa.
She says the atmosphere at the event is electric right now as everyone counts down the minutes until the Games begin.
Olson says salmon, buffalo and elk pate are just some of the traditional dishes they will be serving the dignitaries.
The Kinoosao resident says the entire experience has been awesome so far and she’s thrilled to be working inside the Aboriginal pavilion.
She says she will be there until March 1st.
