The president of the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan hopes a new archival centre will help Metis people reconnect with their past.

The MN-S Genealogical and Archival Research Centre in Saskatoon is officially open, and welcomes anyone wanting to research their family history or learn about the Metis in general.

MN-S President Robert Doucette says being a foster child and finding his family helped him find out who he really was, and he hopes others can find answers about their past.

Doucette says the centre will also help establish a Metis citizenship registry.
