Meadow Lake Metis Man Releases Book On Lineage

If your last name is Morin, Fiddler or Aubichon, you may be interested in a new book.

 

Those are the last names of just some of Cyprien Morin’s descendants.

 

A book called “Cyprien Morin and His Descendants” was released in Meadow Lake yesterday.

 

It was written by Lawrence Arnault of Meadow Lake, formerly of Green Lake, and published by the Gabriel Dumont Institute.

 

The book traces Arnault’s family tree, starting with Morin, his grandmother’s great-grandfather.

 

Arnault was told Morin came from France, but he says research for the book determined that wasn’t the case.

 

GDI’s Amaranta Sokol helped make the book a reality, and she says it is a historical treasure.

 

Roughly 1,000 copies are in print. The book is available through GDI.
