A displaced first nation near Duck Lake is getting some help with their land claim.

The Young Chippewayan First Nation lost their treaty land in the late 1800’s after settlers moved onto it.

Attempts have been made to reclaim it and the matter is before the courts.

A group of citizens in the area are attempting to help out the First Nation.

This weekend they’re holding a jamboree 20 kilometres north of Prince Albert.

Coordinator Ray Funk says they simply want the band to get what’s owed to them.

The jamboree is being held on Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m. at the Spruce River Farm.

Everyone is welcome.
