About 450 First Nations youth from across Saskatchewan are in Saskatoon today for the start of the FSIN’s Youth Healing and Wellness Gathering and Youth Legislative Assembly.
The wellness event is being co-hosted by the Central Intertribal Alliance on Health, and aims to educate youth on what prevention and intervention services are available to combat the difficult challenges facing First Nations youth in the province.
The youth legislative assembly will tackle issues such as suicide prevention, injury prevention, and health and wellness issues.
The youth delegates, who are 15 to 22 years of age, will also be given the opportunity to learn about the FSIN legislative process.
In addition, the FSIN executive will be in attendance to answer questions from the young people in attendance.
Two youth delegates will be selected to sit on the Assembly of First Nations Youth Council.
