House Fire Kills Two In Uranium City

RCMP are confirming reports of a fatal house fire in Uranium City.

Cpl. Bill Betker says a mobile home in the Athabasca Basin settlement has been destroyed by fire, and the blaze has claimed two lives.

The fire reportedly happened on Jan. 4, some time between midnight and 4 p.m.

Neither of the victims has been officially identified, but their bodies have been sent to Saskatoon for autopsy.

The RCMP’s Saskatoon Major Crime Unit is assisting the Stony Rapids detachment in their investigation, as are officers from the Fond du Lac detachment.
