A ground search for a missing Aboriginal woman is taking place west of Regina this afternoon.

The mother of Danita Big Eagle is asking for volunteers to assist in the search, which is taking place west of the Sakimay gas station.

Dianne Big Eagle believes she has a new lead in her daughter’s disappearance, and has “reason to believe there is evidence there that will assist in the case”.

The Big Eagle family is posting a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the location of Danita Big Eagle.

She was 22 years of age when she was last seen on February 11th, 2007 in the 800 block of Victoria Avenue in Regina.

So far, members of the Ocean Man First Nation have volunteered to help in the search. Other First Nations have made similar commitments.

The search will continue through until Sunday.
