Families Of Slain Mistawasis Men Walk To Remember

A walk to remember two men on the Mistawasis First Nation is taking place today.

The families of Greg Whitefish and Dwayne Badger are walking through the reserve, scattering rose petals along the way.

It was exactly four years ago today the two men were gunned down.

Whitefish’s mother, Patricia Daniels, says this is the last scheduled year for the memorial walk.

However, Daniels thinks she will be doing it for a long time, even if she ends up walking alone.

She says it seems like her son’s death happened “just yesterday”, and that it hasn’t got much easier to deal with since then.

A 38-year-old man from the reserve was charged with shooting the two men, but was later acquitted.
