Families Of Mistawasis Men Upset Over Verdict

The families of two men who were shot and killed on the Mistawais reserve continue to speak out about the case.
This afternoon, over 20 family members and friends of Greg Whitefish and Dwayne Badger held a press conference outside Court of Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert.
They took the chance to voice their displeasure over the trial of Hubert Conrad Sand.
Whitefish’s mother and Badger’s wife say they’re still in shock over the acquittal of Sand, the man accused of killing them.
Both women feel the judge’s instructions to the jury helped influence the case and they wonder why it took three-and-a-half years for it to go to trial.
Carol Little, Badger’s wife, says it was difficult for her to read in the newspaper how happy Sand is to have the case behind him.
The Crown has said it doesn’t see any grounds for appeal.
The families of the two men say they’ve written letters to the Saskatchewan Judicial Council and two levels of government hoping something can be done.
