BTC Staffer Now Battlefords Chamber President

The new Battlefords Chamber of Commerce president works for the Battlefords Tribal Council.

 

Leah Milton was officially sworn into the job last night.

 

Milton is the director of executive services for the Battlefords Tribal Council.

 

She says her goal this year is to make more people — both members and non-members — understand what the Chamber can do for them.

 

Milton’s acceptance speech was an emotional one.

 

Just over a year ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

 

She underwent many treatments, and is now free of cancer.

 

Milton said the Battlefords Tribal Council allowed her to take that year off to fight the disease, and for that, she’s eternally grateful.

 

“Once I was ready to come back to work, they were more than willing to take me back. It’s great to be back at work, and I look forward to this year,” she said.

 

Milton received a standing ovation from the audience.
