A man who was allegedly naked when he entered the mayor’s office in Regina yesterday made his first court appearance today.
34-year-old Brendan William Cross appeared in provincial court this morning in a housecoat.
Joey Reynolds is a friend of the accused and says Cross appeared very distraught.
Reynolds says Cross’ appearance in a bathrobe was demeaning and his human rights are already being trampled on.
Reynolds says he would like to see proper mental health care for his friend and proper advocacy regarding the charges against him.
Cross is charged with two counts of assault, and one charge each of uttering threats, committing an indecent act and entering a dwelling unlawfully.
The case is adjourned until Friday.
Cross was the founder of the now-defunct First Nations Party of Saskatchewan, and has also been involved with the Aboriginal Affairs Coalition of Saskatchewan
