Youth Sentenced Over Little Pine Band Office Fire

A youth was sentenced in North Battleford Provincial Court today for burning down the Little Pine band office and medical clinic.

 

The youth received eight months in open custody, four months of community service and nine months on probation.

 

He is expected serve his sentence at the Drumming Hill Youth Centre in North Battleford.

 

He must also pay a $1,000 fine by June 15th, and he has to perform 60 hours of work for the Little Pine First Nation by September 1st.

 

The sentence also covers two break-ins which the youth participated in.

 

The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

The band office and medical clinic burned down at around 4:00 a.m. on June 21st.
