Yorkton RCMP have arrested a male youth who was recently the subject of an intense manhunt on the Fishing Lake First Nation.

The 16-year-old escaped from custody about six weeks ago.

The youth’s name is not being released, but authorities say he is accused of committing several crimes — including aggravated assault, unlawful confinement and robbing a credit union.

Sgt. Stewart Kingdon says the Mounties found the teenager hiding in Yorkton this past weekend.

Earlier this month, the RCMP called out their emergency response team to comb the Fishing Lake reserve, where they thought the suspect was hiding.

He is making a court appearance today.
