A youth drop-in centre is set to be established in the northern community of Pinehouse.

The Provincial Government is supporting the initiative to the tune of $15,000.

A Coordinator for the project, Phyllis Smith, says they want to offer alternatives to Pinehouse youth who might otherwise get into trouble.

She says workshops on Drug Prevention may be offered, as well as a number of other activities for the youth to do.

She says the centre is tentatively slated to open next month. She expects the hours of operations will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
