A doctor is confirming that the Saskatchewan child who recently died from the H1N1 virus was from the province’s north.

Dr. Monika Dutt says the child was the one who died from the virus around 10 days ago.

However, she notes underlying health problems did play a part in the death, as well.

Dutt won’t release the gender or hometown of the victim, but does say it wasn’t an infant who died.

Meanwhile, six more cases of the so-called swine flu are being reported in northern Saskatchewan this week.

Last week, the number was 15 — but it’s now 21.

Dutt says most of the cases have been mild, with a few being described as moderate.
