Young Cumberland House Boy Mauled By Dogs

A five-year-old boy has been mauled to death by several dogs on the Cumberland House First Nation.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Brad Kaeding says the attack on the youngster took place a short distance away from his house at around 10:30 yesterday morning.

The boy was found lying on a road — suffering from bite wounds and possible hypothermia — and taken to the local health centre.

He was treated and eventually transferred to a Saskatoon hospital, where he died from his injuries last night.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.

Several dogs in the community, believed to be responsible for the attack, have already been destroyed by community members.
