Regina’s YMCA has received $50,000 from the federal government.

The money will go towards the Tomorrow’s Y’s Leaders, a project that helps young Aboriginal people gain skills to become role models.

The YMCA’s Melissa Coomber-Bendtsen says the program has a high success rate, with many of its graduates becoming Y staff or, after completing the Y’s employment programs, then taking on jobs within the provincial or federal civil service or with other community organizations.

Coomber-Bendtsen says the funding will allow the program to run from September to May.
