Yellow Quill Asks For Privacy On Grim Anniversary

The Yellow Quill First Nation is calling for privacy as it marks the one year anniversary of the freezing deaths of two little girls on the reserve.

It was on this day last year that Kaydance and Santana Pauchay lost their lives on the reserve after their father lost them in frigid cold temperatures.

A sentencing circle will take place for Christopher Pauchay on February 13th.

According to a press release from the band, the community continues to heal from the tragedy through the help of elders, support workers and other First Nations.

The band had initially planned to hold a media conference to mark the solemn occasion, but it has been cancelled.
