The northern Saskatchewan communities of Black Lake and Fond du Lac have begun construction on two new sewage lagoons.

The federal government is investing $9 million into the projects.

The money is coming out of the federal government’s economic stimulus package.

Ottawa says the move is also part of its strategy to create safe drinking water on reserves across the country.

The government says the work should be done in Fond du Lac by next August, while Black Lake should be finished in November of next year.
