The chief of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band says it promises to be one of the most significant events in the band’s history.

Tammy Cook-Searson is referring to the two-day Treaty 6 adhesion 120th anniversary celebration, taking place in La Ronge over the next couple of days.

Her band is one of three northern Saskatchewan First Nations that are celebrating the history of the treaty and the Woodland Cree culture.

Former Assembly of First Nations chief Ovide Mercredi is the keynote speaker for the treaty celebration.

A reunion of elders who attended residential schools will take place tomorrow.
