A First Nations mother in Prince Albert says the Department of Community Resources and Employment has unjustly taken her children away from her.

Virginia Montgrand says the move happened on May 14th after she got into an argument with her 14 year-old daughter the night before.

Montgrand says she confronted the teenager about her absenteeism from school and other issues.

She also acknowledges that she slapped her daughter twice during their argument.

According to Montgrand, child welfare workers seized all three of her kids the next day while they were at school.

Montgrand insists she runs a clean home, actively attends Bible college and has been contacted by her teenaged daughter, who she says wants to come back home.

Montgrand can’t understand how things got this far, and wishes the government worker handling her case had listened more closely.

Montgrand says she has written two letters about her case to the department, saying she doesn’t feel her file has been handled properly or fairly.

Montgrand stresses all she wants is her children back.
