The RCMP say charges are not expected after an SUV ran into a group of female pedestrians north of Prince Albert last night.

A 20-year-old woman was killed in the mishap.

The victim was part of a group of four young women hitchhiking about 15 kilometres north of the city on Highway 2.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Brad Kaeding says, at this point, it looks like an accident.

However, the Mounties believe the woman who was killed may have been drinking.

The RCMP say the vehicle also struck a 15-year-old girl in the group.

She is being treated in hospital with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The two others, aged 17 and 19, were not hurt.

The women are said to be originally from Cumberland House, but have been living in Prince Albert.
