Saskatoon police have charged a 28-year-old woman several months after a baby was found dead in a city motel room.

Tera Lynn Bouvier of Green Lake, in northwestern Saskatchewan, has been charged with criminal negligence causing death.

She has made an appearance in provincial court and is expected to appear again June 17.

Police say they responded to a call of a medical emergency at the motel on August 26, 2007, and found the dead boy.

Investigators allege the boy had been left unattended in a bathtub and drowned.

Alyson Edwards, a spokesperson for the Saskatoon Police Force, says police issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in January, but she’s doesn’t know why there was a gap between that and the woman’s arrest by the RCMP a few days ago.
