A 19-year-old man from Wollaston Lake is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection to a homicide in the community last week.

John Baptiste Tsannie has already made a court appearance in La Ronge and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance this coming Monday.

Last Thursday, the RCMP responded to a report of a man lying on a road in Wollaston Lake needing medical attention.

The Mounties say 25-year-old Marvin Hansen had injuries consistent with being seriously assaulted, but spokesman Corporal Brian Jones says it doesn’t appear a weapon was involved.

The Wollaston Lake resident was airlifted to a Saskatoon hospital, where he died later that day.

The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit out of Saskatoon has been called in to help investigate.
