A spokesman for the fishers’ co-op in Wollaston Lake says he doesn’t expect a recent diesel spill there will hurt fish stocks.

Ed Benoanie says most traces of the fuel are gone, and none of the fishers in the area have come into contact with dead fish.

Benoanie also notes the bay where the spill happened is well away from the bulk of the lake.

He adds fishers are hoping for a good year and can’t wait to head out in early July.
