A head-on collision Monday afternoon near Lajord, Saskatchewan claimed the lives of two women from the White Bear First Nation.

According to the RCMP, a 62-year-old man from Galesburg, Michigan was also killed in the crash.

The two women from White Bear — a 56-year-old and a young adult — were occupants of a northbound van that was struck by a southbound Jeep on Highway 33.

The Mounties say the Jeep was in the oncoming lane when the crash took place.

Two other occupants of the minivan were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The RCMP say road conditions at the time of the collision were wet, but not icy.
